The US Plan for Gaza’s Future: A Way to Peace or a New Crisis
Biden’s administration plan for managing the Gaza strip post- war is to weaken Hamas and strengthen Palestine National Authority. A plan that is not only far from peace but it aims to develop more crises.
According to Negaheno report this plan includes reconstruction of the infrastructures, establishing joint security forces for containing Hamas, and transfer of management to the national Authority.
The recommended security forces consist of international and Palestinian forces who will be responsible for the security protection and prevention of Hamas reinforcement and to facilitate reconstruction of Gaza. Moreover, Biden’s administration stresses on unity between the West Bank and Gaza that may face challenges such as internal disputes among Palestinians.
Despite these ambitious goals the success of this plan depends on various factors. Trump’s administration priorities, Israel’s resistance against basic changes and internal disputes among Palestinians may prevent the implementation of this plan. The future of implementing this plan is blurry and requires regional and international coordination.
