The Opportunities and Challenges Facing Pezeshkian’s Trip to New York
Iran’s president has travelled to the US at a time when its current and side events should be analyzed with realism within the dominant framework that is currently leading the changes in the regional and international arena.
According to Negaheno report Masoud Pezeshkian is on a trip to the US when Iran’s ties with the West in particular, the US continues to be one of the main challenges of Iran within the political spheres and so the changes in this area is highly focused by the internal and foreign media.
The Iran -West ties is currently intertwined with three super problems: the Ukraine war, the Gaza war and the portfolio on the relief of sanctions which have been aggravated within the past two years making any anticipations about them too complicated.
Despite the not so appropriate conditions dominant on the Iran -Europe relations yet meetings of the president with European officials during the New York visit could work for understanding this important issue that the Islamic Republic of Iran has currently no intention of playing a role in the Ukraine crisis.
The continued crises in Gaza that both Iran believes the main cause for its continuation is the US and Washington believes Tehran is the main player would have made the complicated trend of indirect dialogue between Iran and the US on the relief of sanctions even worse faced by serious and unprecedented obstacles.
Iran’s ties with the IAEA are practically in a stand still and despite close collaboration of Iran with the Agency it has been halted by the political wall created by the US and Europe.
By taking part at the UN assembly annual conference in New York and by making the most of the opportunities provided within this short trip the president could initiate the grounds for solving the challenges on the condition that the West would also try to reduce tensions with Iran just as it has always stressed in its political comments.
