Aisheh Al-Dis: A Propaganda Tool or a Symbol of a Real Change
The Tahrir Al-Shaam group are trying to reconstruct their violent and extremist image by appointing a woman named Aishah Al-Dis as the head of women’s affairs in the new cabinet
This dramatic action was followed by various reactions from the international media and some have shown it as an effort to show a change in the group’s approach.Though this group continues to remain in the list of terrorist organization it has a dark record in violating human rights in particular, the women’s rights. Their former actions included tough laws against women and suppressing protests.
Without real changes in the policies the recent appointment would only be a propaganda show for attracting public opinion and foreign governments. While Tahrir -Al-Shaam is trying to show a moderate image of itself, it continues to execute suppressive actions and violate the rights of those who are against it in regions that are under its control. Only when independent entities examine their actions it would show whether these changes are real or are just a matter of a sham show.
